Android 15 was just released last month, and Google yet plans to launch an upgraded Android OS — Android 16. This time, the Android OS launch will be earlier than usual. Google's Android 16 release is scheduled for Q2, not Q3 as we are used to. Also, there will be two Android releases next year — a major release in Q2 and a minor SDK (Software Development Kit) release in Q4. By adopting this new approach, Google will release timely and helpful updates for Android users.

The Q2 release will bring new system updates with the latest capabilities that may require compatibility adjustments, which is essentially what Android's big annual updates aim to achieve. The minor Q4 release, on the other hand, will add new features to the existing system without changing the overall system, similar to the quarterly releases.

Google aims to release updates to users faster without full system updates through initiatives like Project Treble and Mainline. There will also be improvements to the Play Store. Users will be able to share preferences and give recommendations on new apps. In addition, coding development in apps will be easier as the new update incorporates Gemini AI into Android Studio.

These improvements will align better with device launches, enabling more devices to keep up with the latest Android features without waiting for long. Google's new approach enhances a better user experience as developers can test and improve apps earlier. With this new schedule, other mobile manufacturers will be able to release new devices with the latest Android versions available. This ensures that Android users will be able to use the latest features and updates right away, without having to wait for the big annual update.
